Ellie's Eye: Fall Fashion Finds

Ellie's Eye: Fall Fashion Finds

Hello there, wild ones! It’s been a while since I’ve written! I’ve had a lot going on in the months since my last blog. Most of you know I moved to Santa Barbara, but I am back in Nashville now. Happily!

For those interested…the relationship I was in didn’t work out, and I wasn’t interested in staying in California. I’m not sure it’s all it’s cracked up to be, ha! But that’s a story for another time. During this time of reflection, I realized all that I was so willing to give up for a man. It makes me feel embarrassed and sad. I love what I do with Wild Bluebell! The joy creating gives me makes me a better person; the peace that comes over me when I am in my studio is genuine and rare. While there are plenty of ups and downs when it comes to running a small business, I am ashamed at how quickly I considered abandoning it, abandoning myself. So I’m back, baby! With a new perspective, a new attitude and a new appreciation for my craft.

At the end of the day, all I lost was the idea of a man and a future I thought could bring me happiness. But ladies, as you’ve probably already learned, that’s an inside job: exciting work that we get to explore on our own. So, what… I lost a man?! It’s not like I lost myself, my family, my business, or even my closet - which we all can agree would be way worse! Knowing what I still have in this life, and knowing what’s still to come…I have been sleeping a-okay at night! Errr except for last night. My new roomie, Mother Dearest, says it’s the Diet Coke.

Thanks to everyone who has been loving me through the breakup: up close and from afar. You are my people, and I don’t know what I would do without you.

With that out of the way…fall is right around the corner! I am feeling the pressure to look cute and buy, buy, buy! Anyone else? Well, I’ve decided to let that feeling go, get organized and perhaps invest in a few pieces I can carry into the winter and spring seasons. As far as what you will see me in…I’m happy to report, it’s a lot of the same things I bought for summer. I’m in my minimalist era, and it’s working for me. Below, I’ve shared a few outfit inspiration ideas for you to wear this fall. Hopefully you have some of these items you can pull from your closet so you don’t have to rush out to buy, buy, bye—not that we don’t still love you, JT!

It might have been brat girl summer, but the aesthetic this fall is going to be your country cousin. Think western vibes… lots and lots of jean: jean shirts, jean dresses, jean coats, jean skirts, and of course, regular jeans! Personally, I cannot get enough, and you will see me in ALL of it, especially jean on jean! Here are some of my favorites for each jean category.

Jean Shirts

I did personally buy a jean trench coat that I cannot wait to wear. I have been eyeing the look for a few years and walked past Abercrombie and Fitch the other day and saw one out of the corner of my eye. I have included a few options below. I plan on wearing this as I would any trench: with dress pants and a t-shirt; with a dress; on top of yoga pants and a sweatshirt after a pilates class; and so on. I do think I will get a lot of good use out of this jacket. It’s a good layering piece, and the weight is perfect.

Jean Trenches

Pull out that jean jacket as it’s going to get a lot of wear this season. In need for something new? I’ve got you covered! In head to toe denim 😊

Jean Jackets

While you probably don’t have a denim trench coat in your closet, you might have a denim dress! Those work too and are very in! Just in case you don’t, or are on the hunt for something new, I have included a few options below.

Jean Dresses

Skirts & Skorts are always a good option. See below for some inspiration.

Jean Skirts

Next up for this fall? A skirt…of any kind. I am obsessing over skirts right now. I personally have many of these saved in my cart trying to justify the purchase. Any girl I see wearing a skirt, I know she’s “that” girl. My mom wears a lot of skirts. Enough said. We all know I literally get it from my mom! So…skirt away! Here are some ideas for ya.

As far as styling a skirt goes…it depends on the skirt. But wear it with intent and confidence! I would recommend styling it with something more form-fitting on the top, but I suppose you can always wear it with a sweater and a belt. A button down with a skirt is a statement. A skirt with a leather jacket is chef’s kiss.

Mesh flats are very much still in for fall. Mine are front and center in my closet. I got so much use out of these shoes this summer, and they are not going anywhere! For the fall, I plan to wear them with all my pants and pair them with socks if needed - so gen-Z! If you haven’t gotten a pair yet, I’ve included some options at various price points below. I would always start with a more basic color…but then again, who doesn’t love a pop of red?!

I am also obsessed with the studded flats if that is your vibe. It’s giving the same as mesh, so go with what you have. Or…don’t and purchase a new pair! Do you boo.

Along with my minimalist era comes my simplistic era. I have been mainly carrying around my phone pouch these days: switching the pouch between a strap and a chain so I can dress it up or down. Wild Bluebell just dropped all new hair-on-hide phone pouches as well a new fall collection! You will definitely find something you love, so check out the latest designs.

A good pair of wide leg pants goes a long way! I have been rotating my wide leg pants with a button down and different shoes every day for work. New news! I have a part-time marketing role I recently started. More to come on that another time…Back to my point: wide leg pants! Literally cannot go wrong adding a pair of these to your wardrobe. Here are a few of my favorites.

I am currently all about the self-care and treating myself. Manicures, pedicures, facials, scalp massages—you name it, I am doing it! Recently my facialist told me that she is seeing people’s skin turn gray from screens! Yes, you read that right: GRAY! How gross! I would personally rather have sun spots than gray skin, but to each their own. Good news? Sunscreen can prevent this, people! And I’m not talking the sunscreen that’s in your tinted moisturizer. You need to be wearing REAL sunscreen. Every. Single. Day. So, as a good student does, ahem.. I have been testing out a few options. I have landed on the Goop Glow sunscreen. This goes on like glass and makes your skin feel—and look!—super dewy. 10 out of 10 recommendation!

Next up: a good leather jacket. I personally am into the oversized look; it’s giving effortless, cool girl. Leather jackets are a staple for the fall and winter, so it’s worth the investment if you don’t already have one. These are not going to go out of style from one season to the next. Go ahead and invest, ladies! It’s worth it! I have included several different styles and price points below.

Since I already have it in my closet, I don’t have to buy it. But how cute are these Fish Charm earrings? The right and the left are different so it makes for a cool look. I wasn’t expecting much when I bought these, but I have been wearing them everywhere! The charms are removable so you can change it to mix up the look. You know how much I love a two-in-one! 😉

When I DO start purchasing again, I will be getting this pair next!
